From Burnout to Vitality

The pathway
back to
yourself
for women
in midlife.

Workshop Thursday 12 noon AEST PLUS BONUS Q&A FRIDAY 11AM AEST

Burnout is actually biological, psychological, and social. This is the only workshop talking about all three.

A live workshop on burnout in midlife, with Dr Kirstey Holland OMD, author of This Is Perimenopause.

Live & alive. Recorded in any case. With a Q&A the next day. Plus a space to keep asking Dr Kirstey your questions even after the workshop.

Vitality Clinic members, this is included. Access inside our Lounge.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Hi. Welcome, welcome, gorgeous.

I am really glad you found your way here.

She speaksYou?

I almost didn't click on this.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

I can imagine.

She speaksYou?

Because honestly?
I have read enough women's health pages to last me a lifetime.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Yes, I hear that a lot actually.

She speaksYou?

Usually within thirty seconds someone is telling me to:
sleep more,
stress less,
take magnesium,
journal,
or "prioritise self-care."

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Right? As if you have infinite time, infinite support, and just have to snap your fingers.

She speaksYou?

Exactly.

It's like they're saying I somehow forgot to look after myself.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Yes, right again. I don't think women forget.

If anything, they put everyone else first and are left with too little for themselves .

She speaksYou?

Let me tell you, the thing is: I don't think I'm lazy at all.

I think I'm exhausted.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Exhausted isn't lazy. That's very different.

And exhausted women can be so hard on themselves.

She speaksYou?

I am still functioning, though.

That is what makes this so confusing.

I still go to work. I still reply to people. I still remember everyone's appointments. I still do the shopping. I still hold things together. The home is in good shape.

But everything feels harder than it should.

Everything.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Yes, ... you're not collapsed into the foetal position on the floor, crying. You are still holding everything together.

But no-one is noticing the drain on you, the cost on your mental and physical wellbeing.

She speaksYou?

And no one seems particularly alarmed by the fact that I feel like I am slowly disappearing underneath my own life.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Yes, and let me tell you something. If you're a high-functioning woman, you'd be very skilled at masking distress.

The women I care for are capable, conscientious, empathic, ... because they know they're needed.

She speaksYou?

The other thing is: my blood tests are "fine."

Which is starting to become one of the more infuriating sentences in the English language.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

"Fine" isn't good enough.

It pays to pay attention to the details.

The reference range is a population average. It is a starting point, but rarely the value most useful for your unique body.

She speaksYou?

It's so confusing. I started wondering -

Is this burnout?
Hormones?
Stress?
Inflammation?
Perimenopause?
Depression?
Trauma?
Ageing?

All of the above or something else entirely?

Or am I just broken?

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

You clearly have a lot going on.

Are you broken? I'd say no, because the body does not divvy up life into the neat categories modern Western medicine tries to.

Your hormones affect your nervous system.
Your nervous system affects inflammation.
Inflammation affects mood and metabolism.
Stress affects the gut.
Sleep affects everything.

It can become a vicious cycle.

She speaksYou?

I do not even know who to talk to anymore.

Because every conversation somehow ends with:
"Well, life is busy."

Yes.

I know life is busy.

But I do not think it's normal to just white-knuckling my way through every single day pretending I'm coping.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

"Busy" has been normalised, without discernment.

White-knuckling isn't a strategy that works for too long.

She speaksYou?

Sometimes I fantasise about disappearing for six months.

Not dying.
Not abandoning my family.

Just.
Not being needed by anyone for a little while.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Many of the women I see in clinic describe feeling exactly like this.

THey love their families. But they are emotionally and physically overextended.

She speaksYou?

And then I feel guilty for even thinking that.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

It's an impossible situation.

She speaksYou?

I used to be more patient. I used to have more fun. I could handle more. Things didn't use to get to me like this.

Now the smallest thing can tip me over the edge.

And then I spend the rest of the day feeling bad.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Your nervous system has less buffer now. What I want you to know is: there is biology involved - not just emotions, mindset, or coping mechanisms.

Your body needs to regulate the hormones and neurochemicals needed for a stable mood. Your sleep, blood sugar, inflammation, hormones, nutrient status, and nervous system all affect how much emotional resilience you have.

You are a depleted. But: that depletion is reversible.

She speaksYou?

I keep telling myself, I'll look into it soon.

It's impossible to slow down with work, family, house work, relationship expectations and the few things I enjoy doing for myself.

But honestly - it's been "next month" for years now.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

So what are you actually hoping for?

She speaksYou?

Part of me worries this workshop will just be another beautifully packaged version of:
"Try harder to relax."

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

This workshop is not about telling you to just cope.

I will show you what a woman's body actually needs, and how to get the support you deserve from your doctor, your family, your work.

She speaksYou?

Exhausted me almost feels a sense of relief even just reading this.

Perhaps you actually understand what's going on here.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

I dare say, I have a sense.

I've seen this before.

Your life feels like it's drowning.

Pressure. Responsibility. Grief. Hormonal shifts. Invisible labour. Relationship strain. Loneliness. Inflammation. Sleep disruption. Emotional backlog. Nervous system overload.

If you follow the common thinking, all of these things are separate.

We're running this workshop because they are NOT separate.

She speaksYou?

This may be the first time I have seen someone talk about women's health in a way that integrates all of this.

I'm curious how you will connect all this!

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

You cannot separate the psyche from the soma.

I know it's a lot, but it's not a mystery once you see the connections.

Health is bio-psycho-social.

She speaksYou?

I don't even need a miracle.

I would settle for clarity.

A coherent explanation.

A nervous system that does not feel permanently braced.

A body that feels safe again.

Some hope that I have not permanently lost myself.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

The women in my clinic inspired me to create this workshop.

Not to convince anyone of anything, but to show and tell. You are my why.

She speaksYou?
. . .
Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

You have carried this for a very long time, haven't you?

She speaksYou?

Yes. For far too long.

Dr Kirstey HollandDr Kirstey

Perhaps it is time we put it down.

Here is what we are doing on Thursday

A step by step walkthrough

What we do in the workshop

Your individual burnout recovery: assessed, mapped and ready to move forward with confidence & a plan

Understand your stress pattern.  Decode your burnout picture.
Map your way out.

You complete and interpret Dr Kirstey’s comprehensive Burnout Assessment across seven core dimensions:

  1. 01Nervous system and stress response
  2. 02Hormones and cycle changes
  3. 03Thyroid and metabolic function
  4. 04Blood sugar and energy regulation
  5. 05Sleep and recovery
  6. 06Emotional load, identity, and relationships
  7. 07Workplace pressure, caregiving load, and life structure

Discover your deeper stress patterns that often started years ago — patterns of over-functioning, people-pleasing, hyper-independence, emotional pressure, and always having to hold everything together — that have compounding effects on your nervous system today.

Your guide

Dr Kirstey Holland, OMD

Dr Kirstey Holland is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and practitioner of Environmental and Nutritional Medicine. She has been in clinical practice since 2000, working with women over the age of thirty-five through perimenopause, gut disorders, hormonal imbalance, metabolic dysfunction, anxiety, and burnout.

Her clinical philosophy is the Hierarchy of Healing: repair the gut, rebalance the hormones, reclaim metabolic health. Each phase a minimum of twelve weeks. The full pathway a nine-month container, not a nine-week sprint.

She is the author of This Is Perimenopause. She is the founder of The Holland Clinic and the Vitality Clinic. She teaches the way she practises: warm, clinically rigorous, deeply respectful of the woman in front of her, and entirely uninterested in quick fixes.

Heal in the right order.

The questions women ask before they say yes

Before you say yes.

Your body is not failing you. Your body is signalling. Loudly, perhaps. Persistently, yes. But it is signalling because it loves you, and because it wants you back.
